Ensuring safety on the roads is a high priority in Kazakhstan. In order to maintain safety standards, the country has introduced a ban on the import of right-hand drive vehicles in disassembled form.
We would like to remind that currently the traffic in Kazakhstan is officially on the right side, and the registration of such vehicles is prohibited, except for participants in international traffic.
It should be noted that citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan circumvented the legislation by importing right-hand drive vehicles in the form of constructors without providing proof of their safety. This ban is intended to prevent such violations and ensure the safety of all traffic participants.
In accordance with Article 67 of the LRK "On Road Traffic" from 2007 until the prohibition of legalization of right-hand drive vehicles in the RK there was a possibility of legalization of such vehicles.
According to the results of 11 months of 2023, more than 240 thousand cars were legalized in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of one-time 200 thousand legalization, including about 22 thousand constructors, i.e. right-hand drive cars. Cars that arrived before the order came into force will be legalized within the framework of the established legislation.
This order takes effect as of January 16, 2023, and these prohibitive measures will be implemented by the Border Guard and State Revenue Committees.
